Meeting the Technical and Regulatory Challenges
2009 will see even more developments in the legislation and regulations which apply to electrical and electronic equipment. Manufacturers have struggled to comply firstly with WEEE and then with RoHS, only to find that REACH was around the corner. As if that was not enough the EcoDesign Directive arrived with the regulations for standby products entering into force on 7th January 2009, to be closely followed by external power supplies, lighting, and set-top boxes . More product groups will be announced, with their dates for compliance, as the year progresses. Meanwhile the Batteries Directive added more complications to the mix, not to mention China RoHS and US requirements to bamboozle the exporters. Now on the horizon in the autumn, we have new proposals to recast the WEEE and RoHS Directives with further steps to reduce the environmental impact of equipment. All this will guarantee that there will be plenty to learn, share and debate. This conference from Cobham Technical Services (the new trading name of ERA Technology Ltd) is the one event in 2009 which will bring you up to date with all the recent and imminent amendments and additions to the regulations affecting your products. Expert speakers from BIS (BERR), DEFRA, legal practices, trade associations, product manufacturers and distributors will be presenting the latest news about regulatory developments from Europe, UK, USA and the Far East. Case studies from industry leaders will demonstrate how they have met and overcome the challenges presented by the legislation. Join us in November and meet those with similar technical challenges. In previous years delegates from many internationally renowned organisations have attended the conference providing a rich diversity of experience for the exchange of views during the many networking opportunities afforded by the conference. |
